Bristol Rovers were defeated today in their final game in League One. They went down 2-1 against Colchester United. Rovers were missing several players - Danny Coles, James Tunnicliffe, player-boss Stuart Campbell, Jeff Hughes, Gary Sawyer and Jo Kuffour were all ruled out because of injury, while Dave McCracken was still suspended.

Striker Ian Henderson scored twice for Colchester and substitute Elliot Richards headed in Gavin Williams' free-kick to give Rovers their solitary goal.

The result gave Colchester a 10th place finish in the League One table while Rovers' inevitable relegation was confirmed.

The Pirates' caretaker-manager Campbell is still waiting to hear whether his postition will be made permanent.
