STAFF and students at Kingsfield School in Kingswood have welcomed their new head teacher, Ian Frost.

He has joined the South Gloucestershire school from Highworth Warneford School in Swindon, where he was deputy head.

In September, Kingsfield will become an academy in the Cabot Learning Federation, which comprises John Cabot Academy, Bristol Brunel Academy, Bristol Metropolitan Academy, all in east Bristol, and Hans Price Academy in Weston-super-Mare.

David Carter, executive principal of the federation, said: “I am delighted that Ian is joining the federation as the new principal of Kingsfield as we move towards opening the academy in September.

“He joins a well established team who will support the Kingsfield staff and his experience of leading in an outstanding school in Swindon will be a key part of our determination to make the new academy outstanding”.

Mr Frost said: “I am really excited by the opportunity I have been given to lead Kingsfield School and when it opens as the new academy in September 2011 as the newest member of the Cabot Learning Federation.

“It is a fantastic school and there are exciting times ahead. I intend to use this partnership to help students at Kingsfield achieve their potential and make a real success of their school career.

Mr Frost replaces Steve Longton, who has retired.
