A distraught Bristol pensioner had her handbag stolen while she was visiting her parents and sister's grave.

Shirley Veale, 73, went to see the graves at the Holy Trinity Church, Kingswood, on Saturday, when her bag, containing her passport, driving licence, credit and store cards, mobile phone, and address book, was stolen from her car.

Mrs Veale, of Soundwell Road, said she was gone for 10 minutes. When she returned the passenger window had been smashed.

She said: "There was a dodgy-looking man hanging about, but I didn't think something like this would happen at a cemetery. I was only gone for 10 minutes, but when I got back to my car, there was glass everywhere and my black and white handbag was gone."

Mrs Veale is angry it happened while she visited the graves of her mum and dad, Daisy and Reg, and her sister Vanda.

She said: "I feel so horrible, thinking there's somebody out to get me. The vicar called the police. He was distraught that such a thing could happen."

Mrs Veale particularly wants her address book back, as she has no other way of contacting her friends.
