Pregnant horse rescued from ditch at Emersons Green

Firefighters rescued a pregnant horse after it fell into a ditch by the ring road at Emersons Green.

Crews were called after a woman out riding her own horse on Sunday noticed the animal in the ditch. It is believed the horse had been there for more than 12 hours.

She was very weak, so working alongside a vet and a team from rescue charity HorseWorld, the firefighters secured a harness around the horse.

Then using the crane attachment from the rescue tender they were able to lift her to her feet.
