South Gloucestershire Council has started a £600,000 programme of improvements to libraries in the district including Kingswood and Hanham.
The extensions will allow the library service to improve the space for the display of stock and develop services for children, as well as accommodating new digital formats.
The programme starts this week with an extension of Bradley Stoke Library where a much larger children’s area is being created.
At the end of March, Hanham Library will be refurbished, improving the overall layout of the building.
In mid-April Winterbourne Library will be revamped and Kingswood Library will be getting an extensive interior refurbishment in May.
The libraries will be closed for varying periods from May to August and all users will be kept fully updated.
