Bulldozers move in to clear way for new McCarthy & Stone retirement homes in Longwell Green

Demolition work has started to clear the site in Longwell Green where a new McCarthy & Stone retirement development is being built.

Planning permission has been granted for 29 one- and two-bedroom retirement apartments next to the United Church on Bath Road.
Three houses are being knocked down to make way for the development.
The new sheltered housing development for the over-60s will be managed by a house manager who will oversee the running of the building, including maintenance of the grounds and building.
The development will include a communal residents' lounge, a guest suite, laundry room and a lift providing access to all floors.

McCarthy & Stone also has a new development planned at Overnhill Road, Downend. Permission has been granted for 38 one- and two-bedroom retirement apartments. Work is due to begin at the end of the year.
