Building work on the new eco-village at Hanham Hall
Barratt Homes began work on the site of the old Hanham Hall hospital last November and the development is really taking shape, with the first residents due to move into the new zero carbon homes next spring or summer.
There are around 180 homes being built and the original hall, a Grade II* listed building, is being transformed as the centrepiece of the development.
The new homes will have nature-inspired names - such as the Tundra one-bed coach house, the Cirrus four-bed town house and Nimbus two-bed cottage.
They are designed so that they will perform to the highest standards in every way. The heating system will be zero carbon, the taps will save water and the whole development will be family friendly, with walking and cycle routes and a nature play trail running through it.
Residents will be encouraged to grow their own produce and will have allotments.

I spoke too Barrett Homes who said that price information would not be available until next year. Guess a lot depends on the state of the housing market then...
