TUPE regulations set to change from 2014

The Government is planning to implement changes to the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations, or TUPE, which protect employees' terms and conditions of employment when a business is transferred from one owner to another.
The regulations mean that existing employees within a business automatically become employees of the new employer on the same terms and conditions.
Earlier this year, the Government launched a consultation on the proposed changes, with the stated aim of improving and simplifying the regulations for all parties.
