Stop leaflets in other languages. Kingswood MP Chris Skidmore.
Chris Skidmore has called on the government to stop councils producing leaflets in multiple languages claiming it is divisive.
The Kingswood MP said officials had allowed parallel communities with different languages to spring up that "never really speak to each other".
Instead of spending millions on translators and interpreters, he said the government must ensure that immigrants can speak English if it wants to create an integrated society.
During a Commons debate on immigration he added: "For too long, Government and local authorities have acquiesced in allowing parallel communities to exist – communities and neighbourhoods speaking different languages, yet never really speaking to each other. In every council, thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money, in some cases nearly £500,000 is spent on translators and interpreters, and on leaflets produced in every language imaginable.
