So, Sainsburys set sights on the old Ethel Austin store in Fishponds High St, great to see them opening until 11pm too! Lets hope they don't do what they have done in previous store conversions, and blocked off alot of the ground floor shop space for storage.

Hi Phil, they could be my comments.. I can't see them, but yes I support this 100%. It'll be great for this section of Fishponds Road.. it's never good to see shops laying empty and this is a very important shop for this section.
When Somerfield pulled out of the key shop in Lodge Causeway, the whole shopping area collapsed from a vibrant hub and in to a fast food area with other stores holding on thanks to the customers that Tesco Express brings to the area. If Tesco opened in the old Somefield Store which is now a pound shop then Lodge Causeway will slowly recover but it will never happen there.

Sainsburys are opening in the best possible place for Fishponds and what we need now is a few clothes retailers to invest in the area. Peacocks are looking but it will all depend on how Channon's Hill Retail Park restructures in the new year. Mc Donalds could be looking at the retail park as well.
