yes my mum lives opposite and there were around 5 police cars and 2 ambulances. just wondered if anyone knew anything as my mum wanted to be nosey.

There has been discussion of this on Twitter tonight and someone has said that there was no hanging but a man had a heart attack. I will update you if I find out anything else.

His name was Lawrence Risdale, age 40

Must admit the whole story seemed slightly over the top - the name is correct regarding who we were informed of being dead - The the rumour mill said that he hanged himself and that a 2nd body was found ?

This hanging rumour has literally done the rounds - whole of the Bristol area.

Yes the person who died at Magpie Bottom was called Lawrence Risdale.
He was 40 and a former pupil of Hanham High School. He used to play football for local teams including Saltford.
He leaves a fiancee, Nicola Lambert. On her Facebook page today she says she has received hundreds of messages from friends and thanks people for their support and love.
On Sunday night she put out an appeal for anyone who knew Mr Risdale to get in touch as he was a missing person last seen walking in Magpie Bottom.
She later announced his death or her Facebook page as well as his.
It is unclear how he died but she has requested that people respect her and stop spreading rumours about what happened.

What a very sad story this is. Nicola wrote on her Facebook page this morning: "Lawrence took his own life. God knows why, we were so in love, we had our whole lives to look forward to. I am totaly devestated to have lost the true love of my life."
