MP SUPPORTS BANK HOLIDAY MOVE TO ST GEORGES DAY

Kingswood MP, Chris Skidmore, has welcomed the Government’s announcement that they are looking into making St George’s Day a Bank Holiday.
As the MP for Kingswood Chris is organising St George’s Day celebrations this year, hiring out Kingswood Park for a fete and holding a parade through Kingswood High Street.

Chris said, “There are national holidays in Scotland for St Andrew’s day and in Wales for St David’s and everyone celebrates St. Patrick’s day but in England we seem to be reluctant to celebrate St George’s day. This is why I’m organising the celebrations this year and I’m delighted that we might finally get a day to celebrate our patron saint.”

Kingswood St George’s Day celebrations are taking place on Saturday 23rd April starting at 1200. For more information or to get involved contact Chris Skidmore MP on 0117 908 1524 or chris.skidmore.mp@parliament.uk

For chris to feel a bit more loved by his constituents he should go against his chief whips advice and propose to keep the May Day holiday and give Britain an extra days holiday in October. Britain has the fewest Bank Holidays in Europe and to have one that breaks up the 4 months working leading to Christmas is an great idea. The ONLY reason, (don't believe the tories, "will extend the tourist season" rubbish) for removing May Day is some backbenchers from the tory party don't like the idea of a holiday which is called, 'Labor Day". Even though it has been called that for 800 years and it is celebrated even in countries like China. A real pathetic reason to change a holiday that I have ever heard but then we are talking about the tories.
