CHRIS SKIDMORE MP AND LOCAL ACTION TEAM CLEAR KINGSWOOD PARK OF RUBBISH

Kingswood MP, Chris Skidmore, Alma Road resident and local campaigner Kit Terrington with Conservatives from across the area; litter picked Southey Park on New Cheltenham Road on Saturday as part of the CSV make a difference day.

Chris said, "As the local MP, I feel that it's important to be doing more locally than just being up at Westminster. I was contacted by local residents about the rubbish in Southey Park, and decided to take action myself as part of 'Make a Difference' day. In the end, my team collected 14 bin bags of rubbish!"

Kit Terrington added, "We collected everything from crisp packets to beer cans and car hub caps. It has made a difference to the local community allowing kids to play without fear of tripping on an empty beer can or hurting themselves on broken glass.”

Southey Park needs more bins that is part of the problem. Presently it has one bin which isn't enough, (one resident told Chris this and his answer was, "it has one bin over there". Resident said not when the field is muddy, people aren't going to cross a field just to put a crisp packet in there in the mud, we need others near exits) The council has put a notice on one of the, 'Dog bins' to say if non Dog waste is put here it will be taken away. Very helpful (NOT) hardly going to solve the problem of household rubbish being put there. Taking away one more Dog bin isn't going to help having bags of poo just dropped somewhere or not even being picked up.
