Fuel prices 'to reach record levels' by Easter

Fuel prices are set to reach record levels by Easter, according to motoring organisation the AA.

The average cost of petrol has now reached 138.32p a litre, representing a rise of 6.24p since early January.

Meanwhile, sales of petrol have fallen to their lowest level for 23 years, with the number of litres sold having dropped by a further 14 million since the all-time low recorded last March.

Edmund King, president of the AA, said, 'This latest surge in fuel prices and its impact on spending indicates that UK drivers and families can't take any more'.
