Acas consults on new workplace settlement agreements
Arbitration organisation Acas has launched a consultation on a new code of practice for settlement agreements, which are designed to enable employers to end an employment relationship on agreed terms.
Under new legislation to be introduced by the Government, settlement agreements will constitute legally binding contracts, and discussions regarding the agreements will not be admissible as evidence in unfair dismissal claims, unless 'improper behaviour' has taken place.
