There's growing support today for Kingswood-born Ian Holloway to take over as England manager.
-
Ian Holloway at the official opening of the new community sports centre at his old school in Oldland Common last year - who'd like to see him replace Fabio Capello as England manager?
Holloway, who was born in Kingswood, grew up in Cadbury Heath and still has close family ties with the area, is currently manager at Blackpool.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, who was this week cleared of tax evasion charges, is the firm favourite to replace Fabio Capello, who resigned as England chairman yesterday after talks with Football Association chairman David Bernstein.
Today Redknapp insisted he had "not even thought about" becoming the next England manager.
Redknapp may be the favourite but there is lots of support out there for Ollie, who last year returned as VIP guest to his old school, Sir Bernard Lovell at Oldland Common, to open the new community sports centre.
The midfielder began his career at Bristol Rovers in 1981 and also played
for Wimbledon, Brentford, Torquay United and Queens Park Rangers before becoming player-manager at Bristol Rovers.
He went on to manage QPR, Plymouth Argyle and Leicester City before going to Blackpool.
Comments on Twitter today include: "Ian Holloway for England? I'll back that! He speaks his mind, he's a good man and would bring proper spirit to the side."
Another wrote: "Ian Holloway is the best choice for England manager. Good man manager, who doesn't need money, can deal with the press and plays attacking"
Other comments included: "Never mind Harry. Ian Holloway for Euro 2012. Perfect combo of inspiration & nonsense"
; and
"Ian Holloway for England would love it BRFC Legend and a great bloke"

Nice idea, but it's pretty unlikely! Everyone seems to be uniting behind Harry Redknapp

ReportMight be an ok manager for Championship sides and lower but he hasn't the experience to manage a national side. Might have the heart but nowhere near ready to step up in class.
