Founded in the 1970’s, Grandparents’ Day was started by a woman named Marian McQuade from West Virginia who wanted a national holiday dedicated to grandparents across the world. In 1990, Age Concern brought the holiday to the UK and it has been growing steadily ever since.

Whether it’s helping us with homework or looking after us at the weekends, our grandparents do so much for us. And with 72% believing that being a grandparent that it is the single most important job that they have, it’s time to show them just how much we appreciate them on Grandparents’ Day on Sunday 7th October.
