Councillors

in Cadbury Heath are angry that South Gloucestershire Council has ignored the

views of residents and the local Parish Council regarding the change of use of

the launderette in Heath Rise, Cadbury Heath.

Following the approval by South Gloucestershire, the launderette is now

earmarked to become a fast food takeaway.

"Local

residents and Oldland Parish Council have all signalled their opposition to the

takeaway and the loss of a valuable local amenity" said Cllr Janice

Suffolk.  Cllr Suffolk went onto add

"residents and local councillors are angry and upset that South Gloucestershire

has clearly ignored the views of local people, including those who live in

Heath Rise."

Cllr

Martin Farmer went onto say "the decision by South Gloucestershire is derisory,

and a valuable local asset will be replaced by litter, noise and road

congestion.  There are already a number

of takeaway outlets in the local area, and we will be calling on South

Gloucestershire to reverse its decision."

During

the South Gloucestershire consultation, residents of Heath Rise were active in

their opposition to the change from a launderette to fast food takeaway.  Residents who have concerns can contact Cllr

Suffolk and Cllr Farmer at martin.farmer@btinternet.com
