The actions of two quick-thinking police community support officers on patrol in Kingswood led to the arrest of a man on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

PCSOs Rachel Simmonds and Emyr Watson checked a car parked in Fisher Road and, believing they could smell cannabis, they called up their regular colleagues for support. Officers arrested a man and seized 54 small bags of suspected cannabis and a quantity of cash.

A spokesman for Avon & Somerset police said: "A 28-year-old Kingswood man was arrested for possession with intent to supply on January 30.

"He was released on police bail, pending forensic analysis of the substances."
