A 23-year-old man is in hospital with life threatening injuries after he was hit by a car in Kingswood last night.

The incident happened near to Kingswood Fire Station on Tenniscourt Road at about 9.15pm.

Police say the car that collided with the pedestrian was a Honda Civic.

The man from the Kingswood area was taken to Frenchay Hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition.

Police closed the road for the force's Collision Investigation Unit to carry out a detailed examination of the scene. The road was re-opened at about 2:35am.

My husband works with the father of the young man, and the man, we have not heard any news on his condition since this morning, there are conflicting stories regarding this, we hope and pray that he is still with us, and until we hear otherwise there will be no more speculating.
