Kingswood fish and chip shop reopens today

Good news! I have just heard that the fish and chip shop by the clock tower in Kingswood has reopened today - and it's been taken over by Oldfields, the same guys that run takeaways in Longwell Green and Oldland Common.

Frying tonight: Maguire's at the Clock Tower, the fish and chip shop in Regent Street, Kingswood, which closed suddenly earlier this month, has reopened today as part of the local Oldfields chain
The shop in Regent Street, which also has a sit-down restaurant, was previously known as Maguire's at the Clock Tower and closed earlier this month.
As Maguire's it was run by Jon Maguire, one of the ringleaders behind failed investment funds Arch Cru, in which thousands of private investors lost at least £120 million.
The fish and chip shop, originally called the Clock Tower Fish Saloon, dates back to the early 1900s and over the years has received numerous awards for its fish and chips. It is said to be the oldest fish and chip shop in the country.
Let us all know what the fish and chips are like if you get there before me!

ReportI see that Oldfields is shut all this week for refurbishment and will be reopening on Monday, October 10.

Reporthaving just returned from the clock tower, which has now been rebranded outside to oldfield's (still has old signage inside currently) i can confirm king1and's findings. too many chips which were poor quality anyway (stale like they'd been there a while) and the cod is not a patch on what it was before. maybe it's been previously frozen or something.
don't think i'll be returning anytime soon. the previous owner may have been a bit suspect but at least he could good fish'n'chips
