Double interest in St Peter's Hospice Walk to Remember

This year for the first time, the St Peter's Hospice annual Walk to Remember, which gives supporters the opportunity to walk in memory of loved ones, is being held over two different days in two separate locations.
Walk to Remember
The popular event has traditionally only been held at Ashton Court Estate but this year organisers will also run the event a week later in Hanham, where walkers will tread a route along the River Avon.
Maria del Carmen Moon Park, events fundraiser for St Peter's Hospice, said: "We have always held the Walk to Remember in Ashton Court Estate, which is a lovely location. This year, in addition to the Ashton Court event on Sunday 6 October, we are holding a second Walk to Remember a week later (Sunday 13 October), on a picturesque new route along the riverside in Hanham."
Both locations have been chosen to offer a beautiful and tranquil walk, and give participants the choice between travelling to the east or the west of Bristol. They also offer routes of differing lengths, with Ashton Court covering three miles, while Hanham follows five miles of riverside path.
Both the Ashton Court and the Hanham Walk to Remember will start at 10.30am. They are family-friendly walks – with doggy family members being welcome too. Both venues will have food stalls and entertainment provided for walkers.
Having attracted over 450 people last year, organisers are hoping to increase the number of participants, whose entry fees will help raise funds vital for maintaining the work undertaken by the hospice.
Maria continued: "Registration costs £8 per adult walker and £5 per child (under 16) and there is no charge for your dog. We're also looking for marshals to help out on both walks, and are keen to hear from members of the public who would like to help in this way.
"We are also opening up the event so that people can walk in memory of any loved one, not just those cared for at the hospice.
"This is a lovely event to reflect and remember your loved one and to raise money in their name. The fact that we've had to expand the event over two weekends shows how much people love it so we're looking forward to welcoming everyone in October."

Now in its 35th anniversary year, St Peter's Hospice cares for more than 2,670 patients each year as well as supporting family members. It costs £6.8 million to run the hospice with 77% of its income derived from the generous support of local people.
