Property managers at a West Country block management agency have reported their busiest December and January ever, after a combination of the holiday season and the bad weather meant record call outs were made.

Managers at BNS Property Management, based in Downend, which is on call 24-7 for 200 apartment blocks across the South West, had call outs for everything from leaking roofs to damaged fences and fire alarms being set off as a result of the storms.

The festive season also meant a steep increase in the amount of rubbish being dumped at blocks managed by the firm.

BNS managing director Andrew Simmonds said: "December and January have been extremely busy for us, the storms we've been experiencing have meant more call outs than we've ever had before over Christmas, so our maintenance team were definitely kept busy.

"We've also found that there has been high numbers of reports of dumped rubbish as people clear out all their Christmas present wrapping and packaging. Add to this the number of Christmas trees dumped and we have certainly been kept on our toes!

"We also found that a number of people left their apartments unattended over the holidays which led to some burst pipes and electrical damage which we were called in to repair.

"Part of the benefit of having a property management agency handling your home is that we are available 24-7 and always arrive onsite as soon as possible. It takes the stress and responsibility away from the residents and the immediate service means less damage is done."

BNS Management, run by brothers Andrew and Ian Simmonds has a reputation for strong local connections, rapid response times and reliability establishing it as one of the region's leading property managing agents. It offers different levels of service for both large and small properties.

Andrew continued: "In many cases we were the difference between people having a good Christmas and New Year and a disastrous one. We made sure people were back up and running again as soon as possible and ensured no further damage was done to properties.

"Fortunately we had made provisions before the stormy weather so we were able to cope with demand."
